What is Egg Freezing?

Egg freezing is the process of storing the egg (oocyte) obtained from the woman's ovary and freezing it for future use. This method, in which eggs collected from female ovaries with the help of vaginal ultrasonography are frozen in a laboratory environment, allows the eggs to be stored and used in the future. The egg retrieval process for egg freezing is the same as for IVF. When the egg cell is frozen, it bears the characteristics of the woman's current age. Healthy babies can be born from pregnancies that can be obtained from thawed eggs.

Who Can Freeze Eggs?

After the new regulation, women were given the right to freeze eggs with medical necessity. The Ministry of Health, which previously only allowed egg freezing to patients who will be treated for cancer, provides all women with low egg reserves with the "right to freeze their eggs" with the latest regulations. Every young, married, single woman with low egg reserve can freeze her eggs and get the chance to become a mother whenever she wants.

The medical necessity conditions for egg freezing in women are as follows.

- Before treatments that damage egg cells such as chemotherapy, radiotherapy,

- Before surgeries that will lead to loss of reproductive functions

- We can freeze a woman's eggs regardless of age, if she has low ovarian reserve and has not yet given birth, or if her family history of early menopause is documented by a medical board report consisting of three specialist doctors.

How do I know if I have a low Egg Reserve?

You can have information about your ovarian reserve by ultrasound control by our specialists or by having an AMH test. High ovarian reserve is an indication that the woman has more follicles in her ovaries, high quality, and a high chance of getting pregnant. The most important factor reflecting the amount of follicles in the ovary of the person is the current age of the person. As age progresses, especially after the age of 35, the number and quality of follicles decreases, and this event accelerates after the age of 40. The aging of the egg makes it harder to get pregnant. A 30-year-old woman's frozen eggs remain the same when she turns 40, so your chances of having a baby at 40 are the same as at 30.
