Uterine Anomalies

Today, advanced ultrasonography and HSG (uterine film) methods are used to detect anomalies related to the uterus. An advantage of the uterine film is that it can be evaluated whether the tubes are open or closed.

We examine uterine anomalies in two groups;

- Congenital deformities and

- Problems that are acquired (acquired)

Congenital deformities

The most common situation we encounter is the partial or full veil in the uterus, this structure, which is medically called the septum, can be revealed very clearly by ultrasonography. Apart from this, cases such as double-headed uterus (bicornis), half-womb (unicornis), double-womb (didelphis) are also revealed by ultrasonography. These anomalies can both cause miscarriage and prevent pregnancy. If they are detected by examination, they are treated with closed surgical methods (hysteroscopy or laparoscopy), increasing the chance of the patient to become pregnant spontaneously or to become pregnant with the in vitro fertilization method.

Acquired (acquired) problems

Adhesions formed in the uterus due to abortion or infections, fibroids or polyps that press into the uterus can be listed among the most common ones. These formations can prevent pregnancy by creating a pressure effect on the uterus, and it is possible to eliminate these pathologies by hysteroscopy.
