MICROINJECTION - ICSI

In microinjection, a single sperm is injected into the egg with the help of a special tool called a micromanipulator. Fertilization takes place approximately 2-4 hours after the eggs are collected. In fertilization with microinjection, first of all, the cells around the eggs (cumulus cells) are cleaned. Then the egg is held with a stabilizer pipette and the sperm is injected into the egg with a very fine needle. Fertilization is checked under the microscope after 16-18 hours. Before fertilization, the embryos are stored in devices called incubators in the laboratory, resembling the body environment, for 2 -5 days until they are transferred to the uterus of the expectant mother. Then, 1-2 embryos with the best development are transferred to the uterus of the expectant mother with the help of a catheter. A pregnancy test is done 10-12 days after the transfer.
