FEMALE REASONS

Causes of Fallopian Tubes
In order for pregnancy to occur, the sperm ejaculated into the vagina must pass through the cervix and the uterus and reach the egg through the tubes. For this reason, it is important to show whether the tubes are open and able to do their job. 35% of infertility causes are tubular disorders. HSG examination can show obstruction and damage in the tubes. If the tubes are found closed, damaged, or adhered, they can be surgically corrected. However, if it is thought that the operation will not yield results, in vitro fertilization method (IVF) is the best alternative in treatment.

Ovulation Problems
Irregular or abnormal ovulation accounts for approximately 5-25% of the causes of infertility. Under normal conditions, one of the immature eggs in the ovaries develops and cracks every month, and ovulation occurs. The most important cause of infertility due to menstrual irregularities is the absence of ovulation (anovulation). Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), hypogonadotropic hypogonadism or endocrine disorders are the main causes of this condition in this group. Whether a woman is ovulating or not can be determined by following ovulation with ultrasonography (USG) or by checking the level of progesterone hormone in the serum.

Age Factor
Female age is one of the most important factors affecting the success of infertility treatment. As women age, ovarian reserve decreases and at the same time, egg quality deteriorates. Chromosomal abnormalities are observed in eggs obtained from women over 40 years of age. This prevents the embryos from attaching or increases the miscarriage rate in pregnancies that occur.

Endometriosis
The presence of intrauterine tissue in any organ or tissue outside the uterus is called endometriosis. It is often found on the membranes surrounding the ovaries and intra-abdominal organs. Endometriosis is found in approximately 35% of women who apply for infertility. Endometriosis causes infertility by causing adhesions in the pelvic region or tubes.

Uterine Problems
Congenital anomalies such as partially or completely underdevelopment of the uterus, presence of a septum that narrows the uterine cavity, double uterus and unicorn may prevent the couple from having children or cause recurrent miscarriages. Myomas and polyps that may occur later in the uterus may be the cause of infertility. In addition, previous uterine surgeries, abortion or infections can cause infertility by causing adhesions in the uterus.

Genetic Causes
Numerical or structural anomalies of chromosomes may cause miscarriage in pregnancies. Some chromosomal abnormalities, such as sex chromosome mosaicism, can negatively affect ovarian capacity in women.
